Terms of Use
These are the rules for using Overboard. It is free, run by a 15 year old sailor, and written in plain language so you can actually read it.
By using Overboard you agree to this
If you use the site, you agree to what is written here. If you do not agree, please do not make an account and just browse the training pages.
Accounts
Overboard is free and open to any sailor who wants to train better. If you are under 16, get a parent or guardian's OK first and let them read these terms too.
- one account per person, with your own real details
- keep your password private and do not share your login
- you are responsible for what happens under your account
- tell me straight away if you think someone else got into it
What the coach is, and what it is not
The AI coach is programmed by me and given its information by qualified sailing coaches. It is still experimental. It can be wrong, it can repeat something back in an odd way, and it has never sailed your boat.
It is not a replacement for on-water coaching. Treat what it says as a starting point for a conversation with your real coach, and use your own judgement and your coach's eyes before you change anything.
Training, gym and food advice
Everything on the site is general information, not medical advice. Nothing here replaces a doctor, a qualified strength coach, or a sports dietitian.
- check with a qualified coach or a doctor before you start a new plan
- stop if something hurts, sharp pain is a signal to stop
- build up gradually instead of jumping into the hardest version
- wear your buoyancy aid, follow your club's safety rules, and sail within your limits
Sailing, gym work and racing carry real risk. You choose whether to follow anything on this site, and that choice and its results are yours.
Fair use of the site
Please do not:
- upload videos of other people without their permission
- use the coach to harass, threaten or abuse anyone
- try to break in, overload, or scrape the site with bots
- upload anything illegal, or anything that is not yours to upload
- resell the content or copy it and pass it off as your own
If the site gets misused, I can limit or close the account. It is a small project, so keeping it usable for everyone matters.
Your videos and messages
You keep ownership of anything you send. By uploading a clip or writing a message you give me permission to process it so the coach can answer you, which includes passing it to the AI service that reads the video.
Only upload clips you have the right to share, and do not upload footage that shows other people in a way they would not like.
The training material on this site
The drills, routines and food guidance are written by me and researched from published sources. Sharing a link to a page, or using the drills for your own training, is welcome. Copying whole pages onto another site or into a paid product is not, unless you ask me first.
The site is provided as it is
Overboard is a free project by a young sailor. There is no warranty that it will be error-free or always available. It might go down, a feature might change, or an upload limit might move. I will keep it running as best I can, but I cannot promise it.
To the extent the law allows, I am not responsible for losses or injuries that come from using the site or following anything on it, including anything the AI coach says.
Third-party services
Sign-in can run through Google, your account and progress live on Supabase, and AI replies come from an AI service. Each of those has its own terms and privacy policy that apply to their part of the job.
If these terms change
I may update these pages as the site grows. The version on this page is the one that applies while you are using the site.
Governing law
Overboard is run from Mumbai, India, so these terms are governed by Indian law, without affecting any rights you cannot give up under the law of your own country.
