Privacy Policy
Overboard is free and made by a 15 year old sailor. This page explains in plain words what info the site keeps about you, why it needs it, and how to get it removed.
What you should know first
We keep only what the site needs to work: your sign-in details, the drills you tick off, and the messages or clips you send the AI coach. We do not sell your data, we do not run ads, and we do not track you around the internet.
The information we hold
Here is everything the site stores, split by what it is.
Account details. If you sign up with email, that is your email address and your password, which is scrambled and never stored as plain text. If you use Google sign-in, Google sends us your name, email address and profile picture so we can recognise you.
Training progress. When you mark a drill complete, we save that so your plan can keep track. If you are not signed in, the tick marks stay on your own device and never leave it.
AI coach chats. The questions you ask and the answers you get are kept so the coach can remember the conversation and give advice that fits you.
Video clips you upload. A clip you send for review is passed on to the AI service so it can look at your sailing and write feedback. It is not published anywhere and other sailors never see it.
Basic technical logs. When something breaks, the server writes down the error, the page you were on and a rough location. This is how I find bugs without you having to report them.
How your info gets used
Only for these jobs:
- letting you sign in and keeping your account safe
- showing your progress and your training plan
- answering your coaching questions
- keeping the site running and fixing things that break
We do not use your info for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not hand it to other companies for their own marketing.
The services behind the scenes
Overboard leans on a few tools to exist, and each one sees a small piece of your info.
- Google handles sign-in if you choose the Google button.
- Supabase stores accounts, passwords and your training progress.
- An AI service reads your chat messages and video clips to write the coach's replies.
These services have their own privacy policies, and they may store data in other countries. If you delete your Overboard account, your training data goes with it, but anything Google keeps for its own account is Google's to handle.
If you are under 16
This site is written for teenagers and young sailors. If you are under 16, please read this page with a parent or guardian and get their OK before making an account. If a parent or guardian ever wants their child's account removed, message me and I will delete it.
Storage and deletion
Your account and your progress stay while your account is open. Chat history stays so the coach can keep its place in the conversation. Video clips are used for the review you asked for and are not kept as a public library.
You can ask to delete your account and your stored training data at any time. Message me on Instagram at @rehaan_12688 and I will remove it. If you only want the tick marks gone, clearing your browser data does that for you when you are signed out.
Security
Sign-in runs over an encrypted connection, passwords are scrambled rather than stored as text, and the training data on the site is locked so only your own account can read it. Nothing online is 100% safe, so please use a password you do not use anywhere else.
Cookies and local storage
We only use the small storage bits the site needs to keep you signed in and remember your settings. There are no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels.
If this policy changes
If I change how the site handles data, I will update this page and say what changed. Keeping using the site after an update means you are happy with the new version.
Questions about your data
The easiest way to reach me is Instagram at @rehaan_12688. Ask for your data, ask for it to be deleted, or just ask how something works.
